例阿芙蓉，芙前代罕闻，近方有用者，云是罂粟花之津液也。又，以花色似芙蓉而得名。——李时珍《本草纲目》

引明 李时珍 《本草纲目·穀二·阿芙蓉》：“阿芙蓉前代罕闻，近方有用者，云是罌粟花之津液也。罌粟结青苞时，午后以大针刺其外面青皮，勿损里面硬皮，或三五处。次早津出，以竹刀刮，收入瓷器，阴乾用之。故今市者，犹有苞片在内。”
